Finland, Midsummer, weather

Most of Finland will enjoy clear skies for Midsummer, according to Yle meteorologist Elias Paakkanen.

On Midsummer Eve, the warmest regions will be in southern and western Finland, with temperatures just above 20°C. Eastern and northern areas will be slightly cooler, ranging between 15°C and 20°C.

Rain will largely clear by Midsummer Eve, though cloud cover and possible light rain may persist near the eastern border.

Midsummer Day is expected to be the warmest of the week, with a strong chance of temperatures exceeding 25°C in southern and western Finland. Eastern and northern regions may also reach 20°C.

Later in the day, western and northern Finland could see scattered showers or thunderstorms, which may prevent temperatures from climbing into heatwave territory. If the rain holds off until evening, daytime highs could still hit heatwave levels.

Sunday’s forecast is more unsettled, with rain likely in the north, while the south remains drier and warmer, nearing heatwave conditions in places. Coastal areas will probably stay slightly cooler than inland, as the sea has not yet warmed significantly in early summer.
