Former SVT foreign and climate correspondent Erika Bjerström has been named the 2026 recipient of the Anna Lindh Prize, the Anna Lindh Memorial Fund announced on Monday.

The foundation cited her “courageous, knowledgeable, and deeply humane journalistic work in a time marked by war, climate crisis, democratic backsliding, and growing polarisation.”

Bjerström was recognised for “decades of reporting from the world’s conflicts and societal shifts, giving voice to those who might otherwise go unheard,” the fund stated.

The prize, established in 2004, honours individuals, organisations, or projects working in Sweden or internationally, with a focus on encouraging women and youth. It carries a 100,000 SEK award and will be presented at a ceremony in Stockholm on 15 June.

The prize aims to highlight those “working and striving for a more humane and just existence by helping others,” according to the fund.
