A second person has died following a cycling accident in Enebakk, Akershus, on 12 May, the municipality’s mayor confirmed to Dagbladet on Monday.
The man, part of a group of seven cyclists from Driv IL, had received medical treatment since the crash but died on Sunday evening, said Mayor Christopher Leiknes.
This brings the confirmed death toll to two. The first fatality, a man in his 50s, was announced shortly after the incident.
Driv IL confirmed the latest death in a statement on its website, expressing deep sorrow and offering condolences to the family, friends, and all affected. The club requested privacy and respect for those grieving.
Police previously stated that two men—a 18-year-old and a man in his 40s—have been charged in connection with the crash. The older man faces charges of negligent homicide, negligent causing of serious injury, and violating traffic regulations. The 18-year-old is charged with driving under the influence and a traffic violation.
Enebakk’s psychosocial crisis team has provided support to over 20 people, with more expected to need long-term assistance, according to Leiknes.
