NRK opens voluntary redundancy packages
Norwegian public broadcaster NRK is offering voluntary redundancy packages to all permanent staff across its departments, the channel confirmed on Monday.
Director-General Vibeke Fürst Haugen told employees the move follows rising costs, wage growth, and major investments in new technology.
“NRK faces its biggest changes in decades. We are entering a period where we must work completely differently than before. Everyone must be prepared for that. Now we are opening up for each individual to consider applying for a severance package,” Haugen said.
On 14 April, Haugen told Medier24 that NRK would implement four years of extensive cuts, estimating 300–400 full-time positions would be eliminated.
