Gettomasa returns to stage in Jyväskylä after two-year break
Finnish rap artist Gettomasa performed in Jyväskylä on Saturday evening, ending a near two-year hiatus from live shows, Yle reports.
The concert at Hippoksen pesäpallo stadium drew 8,000 tickets, which sold out in roughly two hours after going on sale in January. Gettomasa had announced his return that month, citing severe back pain as one reason for his break since August 2024.
Fans queued for hours to secure spots near the stage, with the first arriving in the morning. Ida-Maria Nurminen, first in line, said she would have come the previous night if not for a ban on overnight queuing. “I’m a huge fan, so I had to be here early,” she told Yle.
Three friends from Siilinjärvi—Leni Voutilainen, Mina Seppänen, and Jannica Perhonen—arrived at noon, securing the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots in line. They praised Gettomasa’s attitude and lyrical ability to capture emotions. “His mindset is what stands out,” they said.
The stadium’s pesäpallo field presented logistical challenges for the concert setup. Production chief Linda Lebnaoui of Nelonen Media Live said constructing the largest stage ever built at the venue took three days. The field’s surface required careful protection to prevent damage, with weights distributed to avoid sinking. Despite the hurdles, Lebnaoui called the stadium ideal for large concerts due to its fixed seating.
Gettomasa took the stage at 20:30 as rain stopped, ending hours of anticipation.
