Finnish media personality and entrepreneur Jethro Rostedt appeared in Turku Court of Appeal on Tuesday as prosecutors seek to overturn his suspended sentence for aggravated tax fraud, Yle reports.

Prosecutors are demanding Rostedt’s one-year-and-eight-month suspended prison term—issued by Turku District Court in autumn 2025—be converted to unconditional imprisonment. The original conviction also included 90 days of community service for three counts of aggravated tax fraud and one count of tax fraud.

The Finnish Tax Administration, listed as the injured party, has claimed €599,238 in restitution, a figure Rostedt acknowledged as accurate during the district court proceedings. That court cited his lack of prior convictions and cooperation with investigators as mitigating factors in its ruling.

Prosecutor Petri Hiltunen immediately signaled dissatisfaction with the district court’s decision, calling for a harsher penalty. The case had shifted to a confession-based trial after Rostedt admitted to the offenses in court.
