Amusement park ride malfunctions in Kouvola, trapping passengers mid-air

A malfunction at Tykkimäki amusement park in Kouvola left around 20 passengers stranded on the Star Flyer ride Sunday evening, according to Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

Emergency services were called to the scene and are currently lowering passengers to the ground. Park director Pilvi Serola told Yle the situation is under control, with trained professionals handling the rescue.

Serola acknowledged the breakdown was unexpected but noted the park had prepared for such scenarios through drills. The Star Flyer, which reaches heights of 72 meters and speeds of up to 70 km/h, remains suspended as the operation continues.
