The new Queen Margrethe Bridge between Zealand and Falster was officially inaugurated today, with Crown Prince Frederik presiding over the ceremony in place of the queen, Danish broadcaster DR reports.
Queen Margrethe, after whom the bridge is named, was unable to attend due to ongoing recovery from two recent hospital stays. The event marked the crown prince’s first solo official engagement.
The bridge spans the Storstrøm strait, connecting the islands of Zealand and Falster as part of a broader infrastructure upgrade in the region.
