In Pitäjänmäki, an April stabbing has been reclassified as a murder investigation, according to the Helsinki Police Department. Authorities suspect that a man born in 1994 fatally attacked a woman born in 2002 at a McDonald’s restaurant in Pitäjänmäki.
Initially, the police treated the incident as a case of manslaughter. However, new findings during the preliminary investigation have led them to upgrade the charge to murder. The case has now been forwarded to the prosecutor for consideration of charges, with a decision deadline set for August 14.
Emergency services received a report of the stabbing on the evening of April 6. Investigators believe that the suspect assaulted the victim multiple times with a sharp weapon, resulting in her death at the scene. The man was arrested on April 10, and during the investigation, two additional individuals were also taken into custody on suspicion of aiding and abetting the alleged murder.
It has been confirmed that the suspect and the victim had prior acquaintance.
