Finnish nurses with limited prescribing authority will be permitted to issue medications via telehealth or phone consultations starting next week, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health announced Friday.

Previously, these specialized nurses—known as reseptihoitajat—could only prescribe medications during in-person appointments. The regulatory change, effective Monday, expands their ability to prescribe treatments for conditions such as allergies, pain management, asthma, and type 2 diabetes.
