In two weeks, Danish Crown will close its slaughterhouse in Ringsted, resulting in approximately 600 employees becoming available for other companies, according to the company’s press manager, Jens Hansen. To support these workers, Danish Crown and the Ringsted Municipality are hosting a job fair today and tomorrow.

Back in April, 1,200 employees were informed that their workplace in Ringsted would shut down. At the job fair, a total of 47 companies are eager to recruit potential candidates, including major firms like Novo Nordisk, Vestas, Dagrofa, Haribo, and the Femern project.

Hansen believes there are excellent opportunities for the vast majority of the affected employees to secure new positions. “As soon as we announced the closure in Ringsted, we received interest from several companies wanting to connect with our employees,” he said.

Danish Crown also has experience from a previous closure at a slaughterhouse in Sæby, Jutland, where a job fair helped hundreds of employees find new jobs.

Each of the 47 participating companies aims to hire 12 employees, which means all available slaughterhouse workers could leave the fair with new positions.

One company hoping to find new talent is Natupharma, one of Denmark’s largest suppliers of dietary supplements. Workflow and production planner Julie Thunbo Hansen expressed hope to acquire 1-2 new employees. She noted that the job fair is a valuable opportunity to meet and assess candidates face-to-face, making the hiring process easier compared to traditional job postings, which often require sorting through numerous applications without knowing much about the applicants.
