The Faroese ombudsman will not intervene in a complaint against the national road authority’s refusal to install fencing along a stretch of public road, ruling the matter outside its jurisdiction, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The complaint was filed after the Faroese Road Administration (Landsverk) declined to erect fencing or negotiate a fencing agreement with a landowner along a public road crossing their property. The ombudsman determined that road maintenance—including decisions on fencing—falls under the authority’s operational responsibilities and does not constitute an individual administrative decision subject to review.
In its response, the ombudsman stated that such matters are part of the road authority’s general duties and not eligible for oversight.
