Henning Gunnleifsen is setting up a tent at Moysand Family Camping with his family, which includes four adults and seven children. “My brother had a tent, and we just had to figure out how to fit everyone in,” said Helene Østerhus, one of the mothers. Excited by the forecast of nice weather, the families packed their tent and camping gear for the getaway.

They are not alone in their venture. Ole Johan Stensvand, the manager at Moysand Family Camping, notes that visitor numbers heavily depend on the weather. “Revenue has gone up and down like a yo-yo,” he remarked.

When the sun shines, guests flock to the camping site, particularly drop-in customers who are quick to make the most of good weather. The large family from Grimstad and Arendal is setting up air mattresses in their tent when they realize they’ve forgotten something essential. “Where are your tent poles?” asks one of the children, eight-year-old Oskar. “We don’t have them, but Dad is going to get them now,” he replies with a smile.

At Topcamp Sjøsanden in Mandal, which has been fully booked all summer, manager Grethe Gjertviksten observes a noticeable increase in visitors on sunny days. “There are many more people outside now that it’s sunny,” she said.

Meanwhile, 86-year-old Tove Gundersen takes her daily walk in Drammen, expressing no complaints about the weather. “I’m a retiree, so I have vacation all year round,” she cheerfully noted, rating the summer a solid six out of six despite some rain.

In contrast, Alex Ali and his son Noel enjoy a moment in Drammen, though they have differing opinions on the summer heat. While Alex appreciates the warmth, Noel insists it’s too hot, admitting he prefers cooler temperatures despite enjoying water activities in the sun.
