Staff at the psychiatric ward of the Faroese National Hospital say they feel secure in their workplace, according to chief physician Tórmóður Stórá, who oversees the department as it prepares to relocate to the H-building on the hospital campus.
The move follows an incident last year at Aalborg University Hospital in Denmark, where a psychiatric patient violently attacked staff after emergency alarms failed to activate. Four employees were left injured—two with physical harm and two with psychological trauma severe enough to prevent their return to work, Danish broadcaster TV2 reported.
Stórá confirmed that the Faroese ward will implement its own emergency alert system as part of the transition. The department’s relocation is scheduled to take place shortly.
