Finland’s Minister Arto Sato to meet Thailand’s Minister to discuss Thai berry pickers’ entry into Finland

Finland’s Minister of Labour, Arto Sato, is set to meet today with Thailand’s Minister of Labour to discuss the entry of Thai berry pickers into Finland. Finnish and Thai officials had already engaged in discussions on Friday via a remote connection. Following that conversation, Thai authorities expressed interest in further reviewing the workers’ employment contracts and their contents.

The Finnish Immigration Service has granted residence permits to 900 of these workers. However, in order for them to enter Finland, they will also need an exit permit issued by Thai authorities.
