Faroese academics union signs new wage agreement with public finance authority

The Faroese Academics Union (Akademikarafelagið) signed a new wage agreement with the public finance authority’s salary division on Monday, the Faroese Broadcasting Corporation (KVF) reports.

Jan Sjóstein, head of the salary division at the Faroese Ministry of Finance, confirmed the deal and stated that negotiations with other unions are ongoing.

“We are finalising one-year agreements with several of the 12 unions we previously had five-year framework deals with,” Sjóstein told KVF. “We are also entering negotiations with specialised unions not covered by the existing framework.”
