Tummas Lykke Kannuberg will take office as priest of the Hvalvík parish in the Faroe Islands on 1 August, Faroese broadcaster KVF reported Monday.
Kannuberg, ordained in 2022, will serve the East Norðstreymoy deanery, which includes Hvalvík, Hósvík, Streymnes, Saksun, Nesvík, Langasandur, Haldórsvík, and Tjørnuvík. His installation service is scheduled for 16 August at Hvalvík Church.
Since June 2024, Kannuberg has worked as a temporary assistant priest in the Nes deanery under the archdeacon. He previously served as parish priest in Sparkær-Gammelstrup and Stoholm, Denmark, from his ordination until May 2024, with a brief interim role in the Sjóvar deanery earlier that year. His recent duties have included leading services in smaller congregations of under 400 members.
