Swedish retailer Axfood is recalling eggs sold under its Garant brand due to potential salmonella contamination, the company announced Sunday.
The recall affects six-pack and 12-pack eggs from indoor free-range hens, following the producer’s detection of salmonella in the farm environment. “Finding salmonella in the farm environment is highly unfortunate, and we take this very seriously,” said Susanna Wadegård, Axfood’s quality manager, in a statement.
The move follows a similar recall by Coop on Saturday, also citing salmonella concerns.
