A far-right political group, Sinimusta Liike (Blue-Black Movement), has called for the segregation of pupils with immigrant backgrounds from ethnic Finnish students in its election platform released Saturday, according to public broadcaster Yle.

The party’s manifesto proposes separating immigrant-background pupils into their own classes or entirely separate schools. It also advocates tying citizenship to ancestry, ending labor-based immigration, introducing a universal basic income, and capping pensions.

The group, which openly identifies as racist and fascist, held a campaign event in Helsinki’s Narinka Square on Saturday, where police detained four individuals. Officers reported clashes between around 50 counter-protesters and 80 Sinimusta Liike supporters. The demonstration had not been pre-notified to authorities, though organizers informed police once it began.

Police confirmed one person was detained for protective custody to prevent further offenses or disturbances.
