Nordlab cuts 21 jobs and temporarily lays off 70 in cost-saving drive
Laboratory services provider Nordlab will eliminate 21 positions and temporarily lay off 70 employees as part of a restructuring plan to achieve over €3 million in savings over two years, the company announced Monday after concluding collective bargaining talks.
An additional seven roles will be reduced to part-time, while 35 employees will face changes to their workplace locations. The measures will affect all professional groups across the organization, which operates in the North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu, Central Ostrobothnia, and Lapland regions.
Nordlab, which runs 75 service points with annual revenue of around €90 million, cited prolonged declines in demand and worsening financial conditions as the reasons for the cuts. Earlier cost-saving efforts, including reduced operating hours at some locations, had proven insufficient.
The company aims to minimize compulsory redundancies through retirements and internal reassignments. The savings target breaks down to roughly €1 million in 2026 and €2.3 million in 2027.
