Early Saturday morning, multiple gunshots were fired at the parking area of the popular Tuomiojärvi beach in Jyväskylä. On Monday, the two suspects, young men from Central Finland, were released. Police reported on Sunday that they had arrested the men on suspicions of firearm offenses and creating a public danger.

According to Police Chief Inspector Sami Salo, investigations are ongoing, including interrogations of the suspects and a technical examination of the incident. The individuals involved were armed with handguns and are of legal age.

Witnesses indicated that the shots were fired not at any individuals present but primarily as a means to intimidate. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and no risk was posed to bystanders. Following the incident, police detained a total of twelve individuals at the scene, with ten released earlier.

Salo confirmed that the police managed to control the situation swiftly. “There was clearly some sort of dispute between the groups present,” he stated.

The case concerning the gunfire at the beach parking area is expected to proceed to prosecution evaluation within approximately a month, according to police authorities.
