A now-deleted Instagram account has exposed nearly a decade of student-recorded videos showing fights, forced humiliation, and a rigid hierarchy inside a dormitory at Lundsberg, one of Sweden’s most prestigious boarding schools, Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.

The footage, obtained by SVT’s Dokument inifrån investigative program, includes students brawling, wrestling, and performing degrading acts inside Björke dormitory. The account remained active until spring 2025, when it disappeared amid an ongoing police investigation into hazing at the school. The videos were not included in that probe.

Lundsberg’s operations manager, Lars Jonsson, told SVT he was unaware of the account’s existence. “It’s appalling,” he said. “It’s crucial that all students feel safe here. We’re in a modernization process—erasing the old ways. We’ve increased adult supervision, and this is absolutely not acceptable.”

The program also uncovered a hazing ritual called “the gas chamber,” where new students were allegedly forced half-naked into a cleaning closet while older students sprayed deodorant from above. One former student described panic inside the room, with at least one classmate vomiting. “It’s a fucked-up school,” he said. “It’s insane. But somehow, when you’re there, it feels normal.”

Lundsberg has faced repeated scrutiny over violent incidents, including a 2024 case where a student was burned with an iron during hazing. In January 2025, the school reported five students to police for assault after they allegedly beat younger classmates with belts in their rooms. Four were later convicted of assault and aggravated violation of domestic tranquility, though the ruling is under appeal.

Former students and staff told Dokument inifrån that younger students—dubbed “guts”—are controlled by older ones through a point system, with those at zero risking ostracism. Jonsson claimed he had no knowledge of the “gas chamber” ritual. “I truly don’t know about this. It’s horrifying. It directly contradicts everything we’re working toward,” he said.

The full investigation airs Wednesday on SVT1 and is available on SVT Play.
