Finnish employers do not have to pay wages if employees cannot reach their workplace due to a drone-related security threat, the Finnish Entrepreneurs association stated Tuesday.

Atte Rytkönen-Sandberg, a director at the association, told public broadcaster Yle that wage obligations only arise when the obstacle directly affects the workplace itself. He added that drone-related disruptions could force businesses to halt operations entirely, calling such risks “not part of normal entrepreneurial activity.”

If authorities wish to compensate workers for lost income due to official drone warnings, Rytkönen-Sandberg suggested implementing a separate daily allowance system.

Labour Minister Matias Marttinen has summoned labour market organisations for talks on the issue Tuesday afternoon.
