Finnish laboratory services provider Fimlab will reduce its workforce by approximately 30 full-time positions due to a sharper-than-expected drop in demand, the company announced Tuesday.

The layoffs, voluntary part-time transitions, and retirements follow completed negotiations and will primarily target administrative and support roles, according to a statement reported by Finnish public broadcaster Yle. Fimlab’s managing director Ari Miettinen said the reductions will focus on Tampere, where the company has centralized its administration and production functions.

The company, owned by five regional welfare districts—Pirkanmaa, Kanta-Häme, Central Finland, Päijät-Häme, and Ostrobothnia—serves over one million Finns and employs around 1,100 people. Fimlab stated that the cuts will not affect its service offerings or the number of its operating locations.
