Fire damages electric pole, causing widespread power outage in Loimaa and Ypäjä

A wooden electric pole, believed to have been built in the 1970s, caught fire overnight in the area between Loimaa and Ypäjä. As a result, around 10,000 homes lost power around 1 a.m. Sallila Sähkönsiirto has reported that restoring electricity is complicated, and power is expected to be restored for everyone by Tuesday morning, around 9 a.m. The outage will still affect approximately 3,000 homes throughout Monday. Power outages were also reported in the areas of Loimaa, Punkalaitune, Urjala, Ypäjä, Humppila, and Huittinen in the morning. In practice, the damaged pole will need to be replaced with a new one.
