Temperatures to drop across Finland as heatwave ends
Temperatures are expected to drop across Finland starting Tuesday, marking the end of the recent heatwave. In Eastern Finland, temperatures may still exceed 25 degrees Celsius on Monday, while other regions will see temperatures fluctuate around 20 degrees.
“Today is still a warm day. The weather is clear in the east,” says meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja from Yle. In Western Finland, sunshine will be sparse as rain and thunderstorms are expected to arrive on Monday.
“There will also be gusty winds along the coast that could be strong,” Heikinoja adds. Showers will continue throughout the week, spreading across the entire country; however, rainfall from Tuesday onward will be relatively weak.
“There will be some rain every day, albeit in small amounts,” she remarks. On Tuesday and Wednesday, overall temperatures in most parts of Finland are projected to remain around 20 degrees Celsius.
According to Heikinoja, the ongoing storm in the Baltic states will not have a significant impact on Finland’s weather. “The low pressure system over the Baltics does not affect Finland directly; however, some rain may reach the southern coast.”
