Finnish police are renewing their appeal for public sightings of a 38-year-old man who vanished in Pedersöre, Ostrobothnia, over a year ago, Yle reports.
The man disappeared from the Vilobacka area of Yli-Purmo on 15 March 2025 after leaving a friend’s apartment on Överpurmontie around noon. He had intended to walk along Överpurmontie to a shop in Lillby, a roughly 10-kilometre journey, but investigators believe he deviated from his planned route.
The last confirmed sighting placed him near Dalkärrintie at around 13:00 that day. No further traces have been found since.
The missing man is described as 184 cm tall, weighing about 80 kg, with a normal build, brown hair, and a limping gait. Police continue to request any potential sightings via email.
Extensive searches in spring 2025—conducted by police, the Finnish Border Guard, and volunteers—covered a wide area using patrol dogs, cadaver dogs, and drone equipment. The Purmo River, which runs through the disappearance site, was also searched by divers and volunteer kayakers, yielding no results.
The case follows two other disappearances in Pedersöre within weeks: a 44-year-old and a 37-year-old man vanished in February–March 2025, with one later found deceased and the other alive.
