Two foreign nationals were detained in the Faroe Islands after police discovered they had been working as tour guides on the island of Kalsoy without the required permits, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reports.

The pair were taken into custody in Klaksvík upon returning from Kalsoy and have remained in detention since their arrest. Under Faroese immigration law, non-Nordic foreigners must obtain a work permit before employment in the country.

Prosecutors will present the case before the Faroese Court today at 13:00 local time, charging the two with violations of immigration regulations. A spokesperson for the prosecution declined to comment further on the ongoing proceedings.
