Heavy traffic builds up on main roads around Oslo ahead of Pentecost weekend
Heavy queues and dense traffic have built up on all main roads around Oslo on Friday afternoon ahead of the Pentecost weekend, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration said in a report to Dagbladet. Traffic on the E6 north and southbound and on the E18, especially westwards, is moving slowly.
A chain collision on the E6 at Arteid bru in Lillestrøm has added to the congestion. Five vehicles were involved, but no injuries were reported, police said.
Traffic operator Jeanette Andresen urged drivers to remain patient and keep a safe distance. “Keep your patience and be extra cautious. It takes the time it takes,” she told Dagbladet. She also reminded drivers to close gaps in queues so they do not become longer.
Similar congestion was reported on main roads in Bergen and Stavanger, according to Bergens Tidende and Stavanger Aftenblad.
