The parties in Sweden’s Tidö Agreement have agreed to exempt assistant nurses and care assistants from the new wage requirement for labor immigration, according to SVT.

The government and the Sweden Democrats had previously agreed to raise the wage threshold from 80 to 90 percent of the median salary, meaning labor immigrants must earn at least 33,390 kronor per month. The government had already indicated there would be exceptions.

SVT reports that negotiations over which exceptions to make were tough and were escalated to party leader level. An agreement has now been reached. A press conference with Migration Minister Johan Forssell and Labor Market Minister Johan Britz is scheduled for 11:15.
