Renewable energy producer Valorem Energies Finland is planning to build a data centre in Savonlinna, the company told Yle.

Valorem Energies Finland representative Marko Lehenberg said the company will announce details in the near future together with the city of Savonlinna. Lehenberg stated the company will later also disclose the purpose of the data centre, which is linked to renewable energy.

The company has reserved over 32 hectares of land from the city on the Nätki industrial estate, at the end of Tekniikkatie. The reservation is valid until the end of 2027.

The reserved area is significantly larger than the plot for a data centre under construction in Visulahti, Mikkeli, where Compute Nordic has rented 10 hectares.

According to its website, the French group has eight wind power projects in Finland.
