Lidl has recalled dried figs sold under its Aleston brand after testing found levels of ochratoxin A exceeding the legal limit, according to a recall notice reported by Finnish news agency STT and published by Yle.

The recall applies to products with a best-before date of 28 February 2027 and batch number LOT: 5785.

Ochratoxin is a mold toxin that can develop in dried fruits under humid conditions. Long-term exposure to ochratoxin A can be harmful to health, but consuming small amounts of food with low toxin levels generally poses no health risk.

Lidl asks customers who have bought the affected batch to return the product to any store for a refund.
