Faroese hospital authority faces 4.8 million krona cost from 2021 labour agreement
The Faroese government has confirmed that additional expenses for the national hospital authority, Sjúkrahúsverkinum, will total 4.8 million krona due to a 2021 collective bargaining agreement with nursing specialists, public broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The increased costs stem from a fixed provision allowing nursing specialists to accumulate paid public holidays even when not on duty. This entitlement has forced the hospital authority to adjust staffing levels by increasing annual work quotas.
The government presented the financial impact assessment to the Faroese parliament, Løgtingið, as part of broader budget discussions.
