The Faroese Social Democratic Party (Javnaðarflokkurin) has presented a proposal outlining how national identity should be reflected in the work of government, with MP Sjúrður Skaale stating it could gain broad support, reports Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The proposal emphasises that cooperation between the Faroe Islands and Denmark should be based on mutual agreements rather than Danish or Faroese laws alone. Skaale expressed confidence that the initiative could receive backing from parties spanning the political spectrum, including both the pro-independence Republic (Tjóðveldi) and the unionist Union Party (Sambandsflokkurin).

In an interview with Kringvarp Føroya’s radio news, Skaale said he believes the proposal has potential for wide-ranging approval.
