A Faroese fishing vessel has unloaded the single largest blue whiting catch in Norway this year, according to a report by Faroese broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya.

The trawler Chr. í Grótinum, owned by Christian í Grótinum, delivered 3,505 tonnes of blue whiting to the port of Egersund. Two other Faroese vessels combined landed an additional 5,000 tonnes at the same location.

The blue whiting was caught in Faroese waters. A temporary ban on foreign landings of the species in Norway is set to expire on 15 May.
