The Faroese agricultural support fund Búnaðargrunnurin recorded one of its best-ever financial results in 2025, closing the year with a surplus of 13.5 million Danish kroner, national broadcaster Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Egon Joensen, director of Búnaðargrunnurin, welcomed the positive outcome but cautioned that the fund’s core conditions remain unchanged. He warned that its ability to provide grants and incentives to Faroese farmers in the coming years may be limited.

“The rules governing Búnaðargrunnurin have not been altered,” Joensen stated, adding that the fund’s role as a support mechanism for local agriculture could face constraints moving forward.
