Cooler weather and rain expected early in the week
Temperatures will drop and rain is forecast across parts of Finland starting Monday, according to a report by Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
Meteorologist Matti Huutonen told Yle that clouds will move from south to north between Sunday night and Monday morning, bringing rain to regions such as Kainuu by dawn. In Lapland, temperatures may fall to around freezing overnight.
On Monday, scattered showers are possible in western Finland, with temperatures ranging from 6°C to 15°C. Southeastern Finland may see slightly higher temperatures.
By Tuesday, a rain belt will spread from Southwest Finland through Ostrobothnia toward North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu. Temperature variations will be significant, with rainy Vaasa seeing lows near 5°C while sunny southeastern Finland could reach around 20°C.
Wednesday will bring further rain to the same regions, as a low-pressure system lingers over the area, Huutonen said. Thunderstorms may also develop later in the week.
