Two men sentenced to prison for smuggling dozens of kilos of cocaine and cannabis into Finland
A district court in Finland has sentenced two foreign men to lengthy prison terms for smuggling large quantities of cocaine and cannabis from Italy, reports Finnish public broadcaster Yle.
The Pirkanmaa District Court ruled on Friday that the men, who arrived in Finland last December and January, were part of a scheme to distribute over 10 kilos of cocaine and tens of kilos of cannabis. Customs authorities intercepted some of the shipments, which had been sent to Vantaa, Turku, and Tampere.
Investigators found that the operation was directed by an individual using the alias “Morpheus.”
Aldi Baboci received a 10-year prison sentence for nine counts of aggravated drug offences, while his accomplice Lazar Tosic was sentenced to seven years for four counts of the same charge. The verdicts are not yet final and may be appealed.
