Swedish-linked criminal network stored drugs and directed dealers in Helsinki region, police suspect
Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (KRP) has uncovered a large-scale drug operation allegedly orchestrated by an international criminal organisation with Swedish ties, resulting in the seizure of approximately 300 kilograms of narcotics.
The bureau states that the group rented three apartments in Finland to store drugs, with operations coordinated from abroad. Seven individuals have been detained in connection with the case, two of whom remain at large.
Lauttasaari: Teenagers used as distributors
The first seizure occurred on 30 December 2025 in Helsinki’s Lauttasaari district, where police confiscated nearly 50 kilograms of drugs—19 kilograms of amphetamine and 27 kilograms of hashish. Investigators believe the organised crime group sent two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, from Sweden to manage and distribute the substances under orders from leaders based outside Finland. Seven people were arrested in this phase, with two still wanted. The case has been processed in Helsinki District Court.
Espoo: Drugs distributed across southern Finland
A second storage site was uncovered in late January 2026 in Espoo’s Puustellinmäki neighbourhood. Police seized 29 kilograms of amphetamine and 600 grams of cocaine, arresting two Finnish nationals suspected of distributing drugs on behalf of the network. Authorities believe the operation supplied narcotics to Southeast Finland, Eastern Uusimaa, and Turku. Three individuals were detained, one of whom remains at large. Prosecutors began reviewing charges on 20 April.
Munkkivuori: Largest seizure
In February 2026, a third apartment in Helsinki’s Munkkivuori yielded the largest haul: roughly 200 kilograms of drugs, including 165 kilograms of amphetamine, 25 kilograms of marijuana, and 450 grams of cocaine. A 2007-born Finnish man was arrested for allegedly guarding and distributing the substances. The case was forwarded for prosecution on 4 May.
