Faroese competition authority calls for new public procurement laws
The Faroese Competition Council has urged the finance minister to introduce stricter public procurement regulations for government purchases and contracts, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The request follows a survey in which Faroese businesses shared their experiences with public tenders, including general and municipal procurement, as well as the sale of goods, services, and construction projects listed on the government’s procurement portal, Keypsportalin.
The council recommends drafting new procurement legislation based on key principles: transparency, fair and clear evaluation criteria, mandatory justification for decisions, and avenues for complaint.
