Minister Stórá plans to increase healthcare accessibility in Tvøroyri, Faroe Islands
There is currently no municipal doctor permanently stationed in the northern part of Suðuroy. However, Margit Stórá, the Minister of Health, has clear plans to address this issue.
“It will be necessary to think differently to ensure that the people of Tvøroyri have access to health services on par with the rest of the country,” she stated.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health proposed a consultation regarding the organization of health services in the local communities. The goal of the legislation is to ensure that health services maintain the same high quality nationwide.
Additionally, the law contains tools that can be employed to address the expected shortage of municipal doctors at the health center in Tvøroyri.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across all regions of the Faroe Islands, especially in areas that have been underserved.
