Details have begun to emerge from a confidential meeting of Pori’s city council on Monday, where sources indicate the future of the municipal energy company Pori Energia was discussed, reports Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

The closed session, convened by council chair Krista Kiuru (SDP), was held under section 24(1)(20) of Finland’s Publicity Act, which permits secrecy for matters involving trade secrets. According to Yle’s sources, the meeting addressed Pori Energia’s strategic direction, though a second source neither confirmed nor denied the claim.

Pori Energia, majority-owned by the city with a minority stake held by Swedish pension investor Polhem Infra, reported a €18.7 million operating profit on €137.2 million revenue last year. The company employs 176 permanent staff and has pursued growth in renewable energy projects in recent years.

Two separate sources told Yle that the issue discussed in the closed session is expected to come before the city board for a decision in the near future.
