Eight adoptees sue Danish state over illegal 1970s adoption practices
Eight adoptees, including author Eva Tind, have filed a lawsuit against the Danish state, each seeking 250,000 kroner (approx. €33,500) in compensation for illegal adoption practices in the 1970s and subsequent decades, reports DR.
The case centres on thousands of children, primarily from South Korea, who were brought to Denmark with falsified adoption documents claiming they were abandoned. In reality, their identities had been manipulated, according to the claimants.
Tind states that the deception surrounding her adoption has profoundly affected her sense of identity. The lawsuit argues that Danish authorities failed to verify the authenticity of the adoption paperwork at the time.
