Oslo police have called an emergency press conference regarding a “new development” in the investigation into last weekend’s fatal shooting in the Økern district, Dagbladet reports.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Romerike, was shot multiple times on Sunday evening. He received life-saving first aid at the scene but later died from his injuries. No arrests have been made in connection with the case, which is being treated as a homicide.

Police previously stated they were exploring several hypotheses, including whether the shooting stemmed from a conflict within criminal circles or was a targeted act of violence. Authorities are also examining potential international links to the killing.

The victim had himself been charged in a separate shooting incident last summer, according to a report by public broadcaster NRK. Dagbladet has learned the man was shot in the head, with sources describing the killing as an “execution-style” homicide.

The shooting occurred roughly 50 metres from Lørenbanen, where children and teenagers were playing football at the time. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire followed by sirens. “I heard the shots, then the sirens getting closer—I realised something serious had happened,” one witness told the newspaper.

The victim’s family is in deep mourning, their legal representative Thor Bache-Wiig told Dagbladet. “This is a large family in profound grief. They have many unanswered questions about what took place,” he said, describing the victim as “a warm, caring person loved by many.”
