Swedish public broadcaster launches secure whistleblowing platform
Swedish public broadcaster SVT has introduced a new secure channel for whistleblowers and tipsters to share information with its investigative journalists, the company announced on Saturday.
The platform allows sources to contact SVT’s reporters anonymously, with enhanced protections for sensitive communications. The broadcaster emphasized that the system is designed to handle tips related to potential misconduct, false information, or manipulated media.
In addition to the general news tip email ([email protected]), SVT operates a verification unit called SVT Verifierar (SVT Verifies), which focuses on debunking disinformation and examining suspicious images or claims. The public can submit material for fact-checking through this service.
SVT’s editorial guidelines require all published news to meet standards of accuracy, relevance, and impartiality. In fast-moving situations where facts cannot be immediately confirmed, the broadcaster commits to clarifying what is known—and what remains unverified—at the time of reporting.
