The company previously responsible for managing Finland’s largest shooting sports centre, Ruutikangas Oy, has filed for bankruptcy in Oulu District Court, public broadcaster Yle reports. The bankruptcy does not affect the current owner, Ruutikunnat Oy.

Ruutikangas Oy, established in 2019, developed and constructed the shooting sports centre in Liminka before ownership transferred in 2023. The facility is now jointly owned by the cities of Oulu and Raahe and the municipalities of Liminka and Lumijoki.

Marko Pietilä, chair of Ruutikangas Oy’s board, confirmed the bankruptcy filing, stating the company has had no revenue or financial activity since 2023. He cited outstanding debts of “tens of thousands of euros” and a decision by owners not to fund further operations.

The company is also engaged in a legal dispute with its former CEO, Timo Haataja, who claims nearly €200,000 in unpaid wages, including €140,000 in salary. Ruutikangas Oy denies the claims, and the case will be heard in Oulu District Court in May.

The Ruutikangas shooting sports centre, located between Liminka and Lumijoki, remains unfinished despite being Finland’s largest such facility.
