Taxi companies consolidate in Finland as Tampereen Aluetaksi acquires majority stake in Satakunnan Aluetaksi
Taxi companies are consolidating in Finland as Tampereen Aluetaksi, one of the country’s largest taxi dispatch firms, has acquired a majority stake in Satakunnan Aluetaksi. The purchase agreement has been finalized, signaling a trend of market concentration in the industry.
Last year, Tampereen Aluetaksi expanded its operations by acquiring the Southern Savonia Kela transport business from Ekvator Oy. The company aims to continue this trend of growth. Tero Kallio, CEO of Tampereen Aluetaksi, noted that the established reputation and expertise of Satakunnan Aluetaksi were significant factors in the decision to proceed with the acquisition.
Ilkka Pirhonen, chairman of the board for Satakunnan Aluetaksi, reassured customers that familiar drivers will continue to provide services.
Tampereen Aluetaksi operates with nearly 500 vehicles, conducting around two million rides annually, and is primarily owned by taxi entrepreneurs.
