Southern Norway is set for near-summer temperatures on Thursday, with forecasts approaching 25°C in some regions—potentially breaking decades-old heat records, Dagbladet reports.

Meteorologists now predict highs of 24–25°C in inland areas of Telemark, Buskerud, Agder, and Akershus, slightly lower than earlier forecasts of 26–27°C. A 30-year-old April record of 24.9°C, set in Gvarv in 1993, could fall, according to Siri Wiberg, duty meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

“Some areas may hit 25°C, but I don’t expect much higher than that,” Wiberg told Dagbladet. Agder’s county record of 24.4°C, set in Byglandsfjord, is also at risk.

The warmth will rival or exceed temperatures in parts of southern Spain, with Marbella and Málaga expecting 19°C and 25°C respectively on Thursday, per Yr.no.

While southern Norway enjoys the heat, central and northern regions face cooler, wetter conditions, with snow possible in the far north by Sunday. The national April record of 27.0°C, set in Sarpsborg in 2000, is expected to hold.
