HSL announces additional bus and train services for Coldplay concerts in Helsinki
Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) is set to provide additional bus services following the concerts of British band Coldplay. The Finnish railway company, VR, has also announced extra train services in conjunction with the band’s performances, accommodating both long-distance and local travel.
For the night after the first concert on Saturday, July 27, an extra R train will depart from Helsinki to Riihimäki at 1:05 AM. On the nights following the concerts on Sunday, July 28, Tuesday, July 30, and Wednesday, July 31, there will be additional R trains at the same time, as well as a Z train leaving Helsinki for Lahti at 1:10 AM. Furthermore, local train services A, L, P, I, and K will have extra carriages on these nights.
Buses 63, 69, 213X, and 506, along with main line buses 40, 200, 300, 500, and 510, will also offer additional trips following the concerts.
Live Nation, the event organizer, advises concertgoers to allow ample time and patience for their journeys home. With tens of thousands of fans departing simultaneously, congestion is anticipated in public transport and on pedestrian pathways.
The four sold-out Coldplay concerts in Helsinki are expected to attract a total of 170,000 attendees. The band will perform at the Olympic Stadium over four nights, with the first two concerts taking place this upcoming Saturday and Sunday, followed by the remaining performances on Tuesday and Wednesday.
