Swedish investor Günther Mårder released from custody
The prominent Swedish investor Günther Mårder, held in custody on suspicion of serious insider trading, has been released, according to a report by public broadcaster SVT Nyheter, citing business daily Dagens Industri.
Mårder was detained in mid-April on probable cause for four counts of aggravated insider trading. His two-week custody period was set to expire on Thursday unless prosecutors requested an extension.
Prosecutors told Dagens Industri that while suspicions against Mårder remain, he is no longer considered a risk to the investigation. The alleged offences involve Mårder advising another individual to trade shares in a Swedish company where he served as a board member until last week.
No further details on the ongoing investigation have been disclosed.
